The Georgia Institute of Technology sought to modernize its women’s swimming and diving locker rooms, which has served generations of ‘Yellow Jacket’ student-athletes. Over time, the original floors showed wear from heavy traffic and moisture exposure, a common issue in spaces that support aquatic environments. The university desired a durable, slip-resistant surface that would also have an attractive design.
Stontec TecTop UF urethane flake floor delivers durability, slip resistance, and school spirit in this locker room.
For the 2,262 sq.ft. space, Stonhard recommended TecTop UF, a seamless urethane flake flooring system known for its durable performance and decorative, slip-resistant finish.
The floor was flawlessly installed around the locker room’s existing drains with Stonset TG5 epoxy grout filling and contouring transitions to maintain drainage integrity. Stonhard installers also applied Stonproof ME7, a waterproofing membrane, to conceal joint lines and protect against water intrusion. At the wall, 600 linear ft. of cove base provides a seamless transition that allows for easy cleaning and maintenance while enhancing the overall design with a finished, cohesive look.
Today, Georgia Tech’s swimming and diving teams enjoy locker rooms that reflect the energy and pride of the Yellow Jackets: a modern, high-performance environment built to withstand years of training and competition.
