Stonhard Lining System Provides Car Battery Manufacturer with Long-Term Protection Against Corrosion

Battery Acids Threaten Long-Term Facility Protection

Clarios, a major car battery manufacturer based in San Antonio, Texas, was broadening its operations with the addition of charging tables. This expansion introduced an increased risk of concrete damage from the acids used in battery production. The existing sealed concrete could not provide adequate long-term protection against chemical attack. With several years of exposure ahead, they required a reliable, durable flooring system that would withstand the corrosive environment and safeguard their facility.

Stonhard’s epoxy flooring and chemical-resistant lining safeguards Clarios’ battery facility from acid damage.

Stonhard Protects Facility with Epoxy Mortar and Chemical-Resistant Lining

Stonhard resurfaced the worn concrete with Stonclad GS, an epoxy mortar system that is chemical, abrasion, and impact resistant. Then, Stonchem 601 lining was installed for additional protection against battery acid and other harsh chemical exposure. The combination of these systems provides the Clarios facility with a long-term solution that meets their production needs, offering exceptional resistance to battery acids and extending the life of the concrete surfaces.
