Homeward Bound Pet Shelter, Oregon’s first no-kill pet shelter, set out to build a new 8,000 sq. ft. facility that would provide a safe, healthy, and lasting environment for animals in need. As a nonprofit with a limited budget, the team needed to be careful with their resources.
Animal shelters present demanding conditions for flooring: constant foot and paw traffic, frequent washdowns, moisture exposure, and harsh cleaning chemicals. Floors need to perform consistently over time. The shelter’s leadership sought a solution that would be attractive, easy to clean, slip resistant, and durable enough to serve the facility for many years.
Stonshield SLT delivers a seamless, slip-resistant surface that stands up to daily kennel traffic, washdowns, and cleaning.
Stonhard installed Stonshield SLT, a decorative resinous flooring system that is durable, aesthetically pleasing, and textured for safety. Stonshield SLT is easier to clean than traditional flooring because it is seamless. This supports hygienic conditions, an essential factor for animal care.
The finished floor is bright and welcoming, promoting the clean and caring nature of the facility, while its many performance factors benefit both staff and animals. By prioritizing quality over short-term cost savings, Homeward Bound Pet Shelter invested in a flooring solution that supports its mission to care for animals responsibly.
