Project Overview
A global leader in metal packaging manufacturing faced deteriorating concrete gutters along a washer line at its Netherlands facility. Years of exposure to turbulent water flow had worn away the existing coating system, leaving the concrete vulnerable to erosion and raising the risk of leaks and infrastructure damage.

The facility had already endured intermittent shutdowns for repairs, raising concerns about further unplanned production downtime. The surrounding process equipment limited access around the gutters, making conventional spray-applied lining systems impractical. The manufacturer needed a durable, watertight solution that could be installed quickly and safely while keeping production running.

Solution
The manufacturer selected Stonhard for a turnkey lining upgrade, gaining the advantage of a single partner to manage the entire project as both the linings manufacturer and installer. Stonhard recommended Stonchem 441LV, a hand-applied, low-viscosity, high-performance epoxy lining engineered for long-term waterproofing and mechanical protection in demanding industrial environments.
Stonhard crews removed the existing coating, prepared the concrete substrate, and hand-applied the new lining throughout the gutter system. This method delivered efficient installation in confined spaces while achieving seamless, watertight coverage. Despite restricted access, the project finished in two weeks, keeping production schedules intact. The upgraded gutters are now watertight and protected against ongoing erosion, reducing maintenance requirements, and extending the service life of the infrastructure.
