Challenges & Requirements
The retail facility experiences continuous daily movement from pedestrians, forklifts, and pallet jackets. It also undergoes rigorous cleaning routines. Frequent exposure to moisture and spills increases the risk of slips and surface wear to floors, making chemical resistance and slip resistance critical safety requirements.
Beyond strict performance metrics, the store’s prominent location required a refined, contemporary aesthetic. A core challenge was to install a system that could endure intense, continuous operational use while maintaining its visual appeal, without compromising on safety or durability.
This polyurethane topcoat helps provide zone-specific performance, offering easy cleaning and enhanced slip resistance where required.
Solution
To meet these demanding requirements, Stonhard installed 64,000 sq. ft. of Stonclad UR, a polyurethane resin flooring system engineered to deliver outstanding performance in high-traffic food and beverage environments.
The installation team applied a layer of Stonkote HT4 high-performance polyurethane coating as the topcoat, allowing for zone-specific texturing across the store. Dry areas received a smooth finish for easy cleanability, while cold zones received enhanced slip resistance to target safety exactly where needed.
By manufacturing the materials and managing the installation directly, Stonhard retained full control over quality and scheduling. The completed seamless flooring system delivers a hygienic, slip-resistant surface that withstands daily wear and tear while strengthening the store’s professional image and long-term value.
